Invitational Leadership Development Program  

Leadership…perhaps the only truly sustainable competitive advantage.

The purpose of this Leadership Development program is to provide mid-senior level managers and with the skills to lead their organizations more effectively, and create high performing work environments with highly engaged, productive employees. It is also appropriate for owners and CEOs of small to mid-sized companies.

The WSA - UNF Partnership

This program is offered in partnership by Work Systems Associates, Inc. (WSA) with the Division of Continuing Education at UNF. Participating organizations may learn more about the program from either resource. The program is also offered in partnership with uThink, Inc. Dr. Elliott Rosenbaum, founder of uThink, Inc. is the co-facilitator with Dr. Harold S. Resnick (founder and president of WSA) for this program. Individuals seeking further information about the program may contact any of the individuals below. Program registration – which is required to reserve seats for participants is made through WSA. (Group size is limited to 30 participants).


This program was initially designed by Dr. Harold (Hal) Resnick and launched in the late 1970’a as the premier leadership development program for the Raytheon Company. When Dr. Resnick founded Work Systems Associates, Inc. in 1980 this program was the flagship service. It has been implemented successfully for more than thirty-five years, evolving as the nature of the global work environment has shifted. The program has been used in organizations having as few as 15 employees up to Fortune 100 corporations throughout North and South America as well as in Europe and the Middle East. Some of our recent Jacksonville-based clients include Revlon, Ringpower, Coach, One Call Care Management, Crowley, TEA, JEA and the Jacksonville Aviation Authority.

The Instructors

This program is team taught by Dr. Harold S. Resnick and Dr. Elliott Rosenbaum. Dr. Resnick has more than 40 years of experience in the fields of organizational development, leadership development, executive team development and organizational change. Dr. Rosenbaum has several decades of experience in clinical psychology, focused on life skills coaching with working professionals.

Program Structure and Components

The program structure includes the following elements:

  • Nine full days of instruction, offered one day per month over a nine month timeframe
  • Two individual one-on-one 90 minute coaching sessions for each participant
  • All program materials provided
  • Meals are also provided for the full day sessions
  • A variety of instruments for self-awareness and self-development as well as related Harvard Business Review articles for each module

Module One – Your Role as a Manager and a Leader

  • Defining the role of both managers and leaders and how both roles are required for success in the workplace
  • Developing personal work mission statements and key priorities
  • Developing applications for both roles
  • Time management using the Cover “urgency-important” model
Module Two – Enhancing Your Emotional Intelligence
  • Emotional intelligence defined with the supporting research
  • Individual Emotional Intelligence IQ – Bar-on EQI instrument
  • Applying emotional intelligence – examples of EI in action
  • Self – awareness – The LifeStyles instrument
  • Emotional intelligence and stress – Stress Reporting instrument
Module Three – Positive Psychology – Creating a Thriving Life
  • Positive psychology defined with the supporting research
  • Mindfulness in the workplace
  • Positivity and the power of Intentional Thinking
  • Discovering optimum life experiences: Flow
  • The “Valued Self” in action
Module Four – Leading Others – The Power of Performance Management
  • Performance management – what it is and why it is so essential
  • The performance curve – understanding the drive toward mastery
  • Defining purpose, responsibilities, accountabilities and success measures
  • The role of coaching and counseling
  • Feedback and the performance review process
  • The role of compensation in performance management
Module Five – Applied Coaching Skills for Leadership
  • Coaching defined with the supporting research
  • The “Coach-Approach” to leadership

Module Six – Leading Teams – Using the Right Leadership Style

Module Eight – The Strategic Planning Process

Module Nine – Creating the Organizational Culture That Drives Success
  • Defining culture and its components
  • Leverage points for changing culture

  • Three approaches for guiding large scale organizational change

One-on-One Coaching Sessions

  • Each participant will also receive two one-on-one 90 minute coaching sessions
  • The first session is conducted with Dr. Rosenbaum after Module Three. The topic is the development of a personal life mission and core values – the essence of building on positive psychology
  • The second session is conducted with Dr. Harold Resnick after Module Four. The topic is development of a personal work purpose, core responsibilities and success measures.


The program investment is $4,995 per participant ($555 per day). This investment includes:

  • Nine full days of instruction, one day per month over nine months
  • Two 90 minute one-on-one coaching sessions
  • All program materials – PowerPoints, HBR articles, instruments, etc.
  • All meals

Team Discounts

  • Team of three – Fee will be for 2.5 participants (Third person is half price)
  • Team of four – Fee will be for 3 participants (Fourth person is no charge)
  • Team of five – Fee will be for 3.5 participants (Fourth person is half price and fifth person is no charge)


The program will be held on the UNF campus in the Adam W. Herbert University Center.
