Nursing Responses to Mental Health Issues in Agricultural Populations
Farmers are at risk for numerous health problems including mental health issues. This continuing education program is designed to increase nurses' awareness of sources of stress among farmers and to recognize the manifestations of stress such as anxiety, depression and the increased suicide rate. Nursing interventions to decrease, modify, or eliminate the stress will be shared.
Program Objectives
-Identify sources of stress associated with the occupation of farming.
-Recognize the manifestations of stress among farmers.
-Assess the mental health status of the farmer.
-Identify nursing interventions to help the farmer and the family deal with mental health issues.
