In this immersive class, students will work with Arizona Cartoonist Jan Marc "The Janimal" Quisumbing in creating their own characters and comic books. Learn about story structure, and character design. All drawing skills and writing skills welcome. Bring your own supplies or follow along with the course syllabus. Class will be taught traditionally without the aid of computers.

Students will learn the roles of production (Producer, Director, Actors, Writers, Cameramen, Sets, Costumes & Props, Editor, Distributor, Marketing/Advertising, Ticket Sales, and Bank Loan). They will create projected and final budgets using math worksheets to determine income and expense and profit or loss. Once they decide on their individual production roles, they write scripts and learn how to videotape with 3 cameras. Editing will be done offsite. Each student is given their own TV Channel for 3 months to practice and upload their creations. Platform is education approved with no 3rd party vendors or advertisers. This course encourages teamwork on a project, individual math skills, understanding of budgets, writing, instruction on use of cameras and an artistic eye. They will also learn how to distribute their films from their own TV Channel. Students will be excited to see their creations come to life!
