TELOS - Quilt History: The Quilt Road
NEW!
Is there a vintage quilt or a relative who made quilts in your family? Would you like to know more about that old quilt, its use of fabrics, designs, colors, and techniques? Answers start in ancient Egypt and China, move on to Asia to the Middle East, to Europe and Colonial America up to the early 1800s. We will also look at textiles in Japan, India, and Africa. We will explore all of these topics with an historical perspective on textiles, dyes, and printing of fabric and quilt-making.
Audrey Rosenberg
Professional: BA Chemistry Univ. of Pennsylvania; MEd (equivalent) Temple Univ.; Associate Degree Paralegal Studies Manchester (CT) Community College. I have worked as a biochemist, science teacher and senior paralegal in commercial real estate and environmental issues, having retired from the legal department at Starbucks Coffee Company in 2007.
Personal: I have taught several quilt history classes at Telos. Having loved crafts since childhood, especially knitting, embroidery and needlepoint, and having taken classes at two art schools as a teenager, I have combined my passion for art and my interest in history into a study of quilts, past and present. I am a founding member of the local Stray Threads Quilt Guild. I have lived in Bellevue since 1997 and currently serve as President of the Board of Directors at my condo complex. When not quilting, I walk my poodle, read, knit, and listen to music.
