Acrylics: Beginning

A great intro class for beginners or as a re-examination of fundamentals for any skill level. Working from still life, we'll study composition, basic color theory and mixing, as well as various underdrawing approaches. Gain experience with different types of paint application; layering glazes and scumbles, impasto, and water techniques. We will look at examples of classic and contemporary painting to promote discussion of theory and technique. Assignments are carefully designed to be simple to initiate and broad enough to elaborate. Each class includes demonstrations, painting time, and individual interaction with the instructor. Students will complete 2-3 paintings during the quarter. Returning students welcome.

Prerequisite: drawing experience recommended.
