Project Cost & Schedule Management   

This 2-day course presents an overview of project schedule and time management, what it is, its costs, benefits, why it is important, and how to attain it. In Schedule Management you will become familiar with practical approaches to, effective WBS development, schedule development, activity time estimates, status reporting and project time management. In Cost Management you will become familiar with an understanding in identifying activity cost estimates, status reporting, understanding project funding requirements and project cost management. Tools for managing and measuring time and cost will be discussed, including how to collect and understand data, identify and analyze project process, and solve project problems. The course will be interactive, and emphasize lessons learned from real-life, contemporary projects. You will work as a team, using a case study to apply the techniques and practices discussed in the class.

Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
  • Understand the foundations of time and cost management
  • How to define the right level of project activities
  • Understand how to prepare a usable Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
  • Explore the tools used in the industry to manage and control project schedules and budgets
  • Identify team members roles & responsibilities during process of schedule and budget development and monitoring
  • Gauge the likelihood of your projects success using status reporting techniques
  • Link the efforts of individual team members to the overall success of the project
  • Create schedule and cost plans that are realistic and achievable.
