Qigong, Level 1

Qi Gong is the ancient Chinese art of using slow but dynamic cardiovascular exercises to move fluids, nourish blood, open channels, and protect the vital organs from infection and disease. Gentle musculoskeletal exercises are enriched with streams of revitalizing slow breathing to open the joints, tonify the muscles, and balance the Yin and Yang energies of the mind and body. Free limb and waist movements use joints rather than muscular strain to unburden stress and ease to relaxation. The emphasis in class sessions is upon Dong Gong, which intends to dispel physical and emotional blockages through the practice of Qi Gong form movements. The instructional environment for this course is noncompetitive and emphasizes safe, motivational, group-oriented practice to enrich the quality of life.
