EVERYTHING you need / want to know to make your iPhone / iPad experience great! No prerequisite – just bring your iPad or iPhone. Learn how to use the touch screen and basic settings. Learn what all the external buttons do, and how best to use them. Learn to use the most popular built-in apps: Contacts, Calendar, Safari (web browser), and Notes. And don’t forget Siri! Learn how to move and delete apps and create app folders. Communicate with Email and Messages. Learn the basics of using the App Store to find and download new apps to your iPhone or iPad. As class progresses, you’ll learn about more apps and features, such as FaceTime, the Camera, Maps, Music, Podcasts, and lots more. We’ll cover backing up and restoring your device, should something go wrong. Learn to better use Siri, voice dictation, and more. There’s a deeper dive into settings, adding your own wallpaper, notifications, power settings, the Control Center, and that’s just the beginning! We’ll go beyond basic, built-in iPhone / iPad apps to check out some of the cool and helpful 3rd-party apps and services you can add to your device: For instance, you can add iCloud (Apple’s online storage system) to your Windows computer (no need for you Mac owners), as well as iCloud data backup and recovery techniques. You’ll learn about changing keyboards and using the “swipe” keyboard, using auto-correct and text replacement, using the autofill feature to quickly fill out forms and passwords, preserving battery life and checking on app power usage, photo editing and markup, and advanced camera features like Portrait mode, in-camera settings, and so on.
*Please come to class with your devices charged, and bring your USB cable. You will also need your Apple ID and password as well as your email and password. If you don't already have these items set up, please do so prior to class.
