Unlike other schools of philosophy, Stoicism was taught in the Stoa (painted porch) which was open to anyone interested in living a better, calmer life. (301BCE) Zeno was the founder of this school of philosophy. Another philosopher, Seneca, taught how to deal with adversity and the emotions that often resulted such as anger & grief.
