Abstract Photography

Have you encountered a photograph that does not seem to depict an object that you are familiar with? A visual image that cannot be immediately associated with something recognizable to you? If so, you have experienced Abstract Photography! If you would like to learn more about how these images are made, please join photographer Janet Combs and see how you, too, can make an abstract image using your camera or in post production. For the first class please bring a link to an abstract photograph that pleases you and we will discuss how the image was made. In the field we will walk around looking for ways to make abstract art, and for homework, using Photoshop Elements, we will look at ways to manipulate images to make them abstract art. We will discuss ways to create your own abstract photos art that you can incorporate into your own decor. For field work please wear sturdy shoes and bring water and an umbrella. Please set up a free FLICKR account prior to coming to the first class.
