Street Photography

Are you ready to pound the pavement in search of Sarasota's local flavor and characters? If so please join us as we spend 5 weeks with photographer Janet Combs learning the art of Street Photography! In week one we will talk about street photographers who have perfected this genre as well as taking a peek at some contemporary shooters who have made a name for themselves through Instagram.  The remainder of the classes will be literally in the street as we make our way around town searching for moments that are totally unplanned and unscripted. We will work with our manual controls with respect to shutter speed, aperture and ISO.  Patience, attention to detail and quick thinking are skills that we will develop along with quickly capturing photographic opportunities in public spaces. Ethics and legalities will be discussed. For your first class please research and be prepared to discuss one street photographer of your choice and bring a link to your favorite image by that artist. For trips in the field please wear sturdy walking shoes and bring water and an umbrella. And, of course, don't forget your camera! Please set up a free FLICKR account prior to coming to the first class.
