The 1960s: The Decade That Changed America

By the mid-1950s, most parents expressed satisfaction with their lives. They taught their children “middle class values.” But by the mid-1960s, many young Americans began to question those values. “Question Authority” became a rallying cry for a disenchanted generation. Political assassinations, an ever-deepening war, the battle for civil rights – all of these were factors in a seismic change to our country, the likes of which has not been seen since. The effect on politics, social issues, music, fashion, and pop culture are still felt today. This class will focus on the Politics, Social Change, Music, Fashion, and Science of the decade that forever changed our country.
