Drawing / Colored Pencil / Pastels   

This open studio welcomes anyone who enjoys creating art. Your chosen medium may be anything you like, from acrylics, to oils, charcoal, graphite, colored pencils and more. One-on-one help is available and group critiques will be encouraged. Please bring any materials that you would like to work with as well as the painting/drawing surface of your choice.

  - Prismacolor Premier 72 (or more) Pencil Set - Please not order the Prismacolor pencils from Amazon, some sets are counterfeit and are of poor quality.

  - Prismacolor Colorless blender

  - 9x12 or 11x14 Drawing Paper Pad ***I highly recommend going with a 184 lb or heavier paper weight. It is strong enough to hold up to using solvents without warping or fraying. The 11 x 14 Strathmore Mixed Media Pad in 184 lb is a great option*** Please message me with any questions. 

  - Alcohol Colorless Blender Marker (can be found at Michaels or Online) Brand doesn't matter much. Below is a link to a three pack on Amazon. I like to use different markers for certain colors because the tips get dirty.

NO CLASS NOV 23. 

Bring a sketchbook, pencils and eraser to first class.  We will discuss other supplies you will need then, but bring whatever acrylic paint and brushes you already have so we can go over them. 

Supplies for class: Sketchbook (any size); 4B pencil; General’s Sketch & Wash pencil; eraser; (4) 11”x14” canvases or canvas board; paint brushes; acrylic paint; disposable palettes and palette knife.  I recommend purchasing a Liquitex Basics 22 milliliters set that has the following colors included in it: Yellow Ocher, Naples Yellow, Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Red Light, Cadmium Orange, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, Phthalo Green, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Titanium White

We will be starting with watercolor then prepping watercolor for pastels.

Learn how to use chalk pastels. 

Supplies:  300lb Arches cold-pressed paper, or 140lb 12x16 kept on block, 1 inch flat brush, 2, 4, 6, 8 round brushes, clear gesso, fixative spray, chalk pastels, stump or qtips, tissues, water container.

Watercolor Paints:  scarlet lake, hookers green deep (Grumbacher Academy), lemon yellow, neutral, indigo, burnt umber, burnt sienna.
