You can find out by taking "The Remarkable World of Opera", a six-session class that takes you from Italy in the year 1600 (the beginning!) to Sarasota in 2025 (still going strong!), with a whole lot going on in between. Opera happens in dozens of countries, in various languages, often reflecting the culture and the histories of those countries.
