Gelli Plate Printing

You will learn the basics of using a “Gelli” plate to create amazing, one-of-a-kind, papers. These papers lend itself beautifully as stand-alone pieces of artwork, collage papers, used in bookmaking as well as card making. The possibilities are endless.

Prints can be made on most any types of paper such as rice paper, mixed media, watercolor, book pages, junk mail, and the list goes on and on. You will learn just how many things you can recycle in doing this artwork. You will never look at paper the same way. You will want to create so many different papers that you will want to make yourself a book or journal from the pages you create (advanced class coming). The instructor will discuss and demonstrate a variety of techniques.

ONE DAY CLASSES ARE NONREFUNDABLE. Please check with the ACE office to be sure the class has met its minimum before purchasing materials.

SUPPLY LIST:

• 5 x 7 Gel Plate (if you prefer to work on a larger plate, you certainly can)
• Brayer - any size but 3-4" recommended. (for 3 x 5 plate, 2" brayer is helpful, for 8 x 10 plate, 3-4" definitely recommended)
• Assorted Acrylic Paints in a variety of colors (any brand/price)
• Recycled items from home (i.e., bubble wrap, paper towels with embossed prints, plastic wrap, bottle caps, onion bags, etc.) Bring anything you think will leave an impression.
• Some paper will be provided but you can bring any scrap papers you may have to try (book pages, junk mail, envelopes, etc.)
• A pair of sharp scissors
• Pieces of tissue paper (used or purchased from the Dollar Store)
• Stencils (optional) if you have any
• Baby wipes
