Students must have knowledge of sewing. Bring fabrics, supplies and sewing machine (if you choose to use your own) and we will supply the batting.
Top fabrics: A variety of coordinating 100% cotton fabric strips ranging from 4” to 24” in length. You will need up to twenty-five 2 1/2" wide strips or fifty 1 1/2" wide strips. You may also select a variety of widths between 1 1/2" to 2 1/2".
Backing and binding fabrics: 1/2 yard 100% cotton, 45” wide for the backing and 1/4 yard 100% cotton, 45” wide for the binding. Supplies: Rotary cutter with sharp blades, 18”x24” self-healing cutting mat, 6”x24” rotary cutting ruler, seam ripper, and fabric scissors. Coordinating thread.
Recommended textbook: First Time Quiltmaking: Learning to Quilt in Six Easy Lessons. 1st or 2nd edition (available from Amazon).
Supplies: Rotary cutter with sharp blades, 18”x24” self-healing cutting mat, 6.5”x6.5” rotary cutting ruler, 6”x24” rotary cutting ruler, seam ripper, fabric scissors, sewing clips, straight pins, hand-sewing needle, quilter’s safety pins (optional), blue painters tape.
Please do not purchase fabric, thread and batting until after the first class. Bring supplies and sewing machine (if you choose to use your own) for the remaining classes.
