Come join the fun exploring nature amidst beautiful Hudson Gardens as we enhance our observation skills. We will refine how we see color, shapes and more as we simplify the artistic process with techniques that improve our sketching and watercolor painting. You will go home with a journal filled with art of your unique style and beautiful watercolor masterpieces.

Learn to draw anything you see! Discover how artists "record" images onto paper. This is a great observational drawing class for beginners. Utilize proven methods behind portrait, still life and landscape drawing. Explore line, texture and tone as you learn shading techniques. - Beginning Wheel Throwing

This adult class offers an introduction to the basic practice of wheel thrown pottery. Skills that will be covered will include: wedging, centering, pulling, trimming and finishing ceramic forms with glaze. Each class will start with a specific skill-focused demonstration, and students can expect supportive guidance from our instructor.

- Printmaking: Screen-printing and Monotypes
-
Learn how to screen-print using EZScreens, a simple and cost effect way to print on almost anything. The class will cover how to make an image suitable for exposing onto a pre-coated screen and how to expose a screen using the sun. Once the screen is completed, there is an option to print on fabric and paper. The screens can also be used in combination with the monotype process. Monotypes are unique prints made using plexiglass as matrix or base for adding ink that is then transferred to paper while being run through a press.

- Printmaking: The Collagraph
-

Participants will learn how to make and print a collagraph. A collagraph is made by gluing various textured items to a plate or board. The board is sealed with a varnish which allows ink to be applied and transferred to paper as it is run through a printing press. Collagraphs can be printed relief where ink is added to the raised surfaces, intaglio where ink is forced into the recessed areas of the plate and without ink as an embossed image.

Materials to Bring to the Class:
- Chip board or mat board
- Textured items: fabrics, string, paper, anything that is relatively flat and not sharp
- Acrylic gel mediums
- Paintbrushes and/or palette knives for adding the gels
- Scissors or a X-acto knife
- Varnish for sealing the boards
- Glue
- Gesso
- Brushes for gluing items and sealing the board
