Noncredit ACC Classes   

Introduces metalsmithing techniques and design used for jewelry and small-scale sculptural objects. This course covers fabrication and forming techniques such as soldering, forming, hollow construction, cold connections, surface treatment, finishing processes, and basic stone setting. Students will design and construct functional jewelry and sculpture. 

Do you love to take pictures, but want to learn how to make them like a pro? This class is for you! This class presents the fundamentals of digital photography, including camera equipment and software used for creative photography. Topics include camera settings and exposure control, composition, working with light and time, and creative image manipulation using apertures, shutter speeds and post processing. This class runs concurrent with a for-credit academic class. Recommended: a digital camera with manual exposure capabilities. ACC does not provide Adobe access for community members.

Explore the art and history of graphic novels while developing your own drawing style. In this course, you’ll examine how visual storytelling reflects cultural values, learn key principles of composition, and experiment with different illustration techniques. Through hands-on practice and analysis of historical works, you’ll build foundational drawing skills and create a final presentation showcasing your work.

This engaging class explores basic techniques, materials, and concepts used in opaque painting processes in oil or acrylic painting to depict form and space on a two-dimensional surface. You’ll learn the basics beginning with color mixing and use of tools to creating compositions that range from abstract to representational.

​​​​​​Learn the fundamentals of interior design through an introduction to key elements, principles, and design theory. This course explores composition and design relationships while developing essential skills for both visual and oral presentations. You’ll apply your knowledge by creating a residential conceptual design board and designing a model home project. Familiarity with basic computer functions, applications, and file management is required.

Introduces vector tools used in Adobe Illustrator and quickly moves into applications of these tools in logos, and graphic communications such as posters, text, and illustrations. 

Introduces basic techniques and principles of AI Media Generation using various large language models, image generators, video generators, and audio generators. This course will also confront common myths and misconceptions about AI Media, and it will address the ethical and legal implications of a rapidly changing field. In addition to AI Media, this course will also guide students through aerial imaging (drone photography) and live-streaming camera feed operation. 

This survey course introduces techniques and software used to produce print, 2D & 3D animation, video and sound.

Adobe InDesign is the professional tool for that with lots of automated features. It’s not an intuitive application, so it helps to be in a class where you can get some direction for the tricky parts. Topics move from basic one-page documents to multi-page documents with grids, paragraph styles, auto page numbers, preparation for print, etc.

Familiarity with basic computer functions, applications, and file management is required.

Features the history and theory behind modern graphic design. Examines ways that the design of visual communications can reach and influence people. Includes reading and hands-on projects emulating historical styles as well as creating new visual communications.
