This course is designed to promote beginner communication (written and spoken) through the study of foundational grammar, vocabulary, and culture. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to recognize and begin using the essential verbs Ser and Estar in the present tense, as well as cognate words. Students will master basic daily communication including greetings, numbers, days of the week, months, dates, time, seasons, weather, and personality/physical traits. This course also includes activities such as reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing, and speaking to help students understand basic oral statements, instructions, and questions.

This course is designed for students with prior experience in Spanish who want to strengthen their conversational skills. Emphasizing grammar, pronunciation, and oral fluency, the course helps students improve their spoken Spanish in everyday contexts. Students will engage in a variety of immersive activities—such as reading, writing, and guided discussions—centered on cultural and social topics from Latin America and beyond. The class provides a dynamic environment to build confidence and competence in real-world communication.

This course is designed to expand communication (written and spoken) by building on foundational grammar, vocabulary, and culture. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to conjugate regular -AR, -ER, and -IR verbs in the present indicative tense, use subject pronouns, express physical and emotional states using the verb tener, and discuss topics like school, food, and beverages. Students will also begin expressing likes and dislikes, and explore the simple future using ir + a + infinitive. This course also includes activities such as reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing, and speaking.

This course is designed to transition students from present-tense communication into past-tense storytelling and daily routine descriptions. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to describe their personal daily routines using reflexive constructions and accurately distinguish between the Preterite (completed actions) and the Imperfect (ongoing past actions or descriptions) tenses using both regular and irregular verbs. This course also includes activities such as reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing, and speaking with an emphasis on cultural perspectives.
