Alterations Academy is a 12‑week course designed to teach participants the essential skills of clothing alterations. The curriculum covers both hand‑sewing and machine techniques, with a focus on precision, efficiency, and professional finishing. Through guided practice in a workshop setting, participants will develop practical skills for personal use to launch a small alterations business or to pursue employment with professional alteration businesses. Learners will leave this program with a full portfolio of their work!
In just 12 weeks, learners will be able to confidently alter various types of garments for proper fit and style. Curriculum covers the following:
- Sewing Basics
- Hem techniques
- Hand Sewing Skills
- Closures and Zippers
- Sewing on Special Fabrics
- Basic mending techniques
