This course is a prerequisite for using any woodworking machines in the woodshop. Through this course, students will learn how to use a miter saw (chop saw), jointer, planer and bandsaw safely and effectively.
Students will begin the class by watching training videos, followed by a discussion and written test, and then the instructor will demonstrate proper use of the machines. Finally, the students will be required to pass a hands-on test where they will sequentially use the machines to mill a rough piece of wood square, flat and parallel on each surface.
Successful completion will be recorded and the student will be qualified to use the machines during open woodshop hours.
