This course is a prerequisite for using any woodworking machines in the woodshop. Through this course, students will learn how to use a miter saw (chop saw), jointer, planer and bandsaw safely and effectively.
Students will begin the class by watching training videos, followed by a discussion and written test, and then the instructor will demonstrate proper use of the machines. Finally, the students will be required to pass a hands-on test where they will sequentially use the machines to mill a rough piece of wood square, flat and parallel on each surface. Successful completion will be recorded and the student will be qualified to use the machines during our Woodshop Open Studio sessions.
