In this continuing rigid heddle weaving course, students will learn a fun technique and make a textured “waffle weave” structure combined with plain weave for a nice absorbent & textured towel. You make the “waffle” by using a pick-up stick in two different positions to give you both a warp & weft face intermittent weave structure. We will use 100% cotton for the towel. You can use one or two colors - the choice is yours. You will need to bring approximately 350 yards of cotton to the first session. You will also need to bring tapestry needles and scissors to class.
Prerequisite for the class is a basic knowledge of warping a loom and weaving. Cotton may be purchased at Our Local Yarn Shop (OLYS) in Olympia. Mention your purchase is for a class at Arbutus to receive a 10% discount on your purchase. Your instructor will also email you additional information closer to the start date.
Please note: this class will meet upstairs and is accessible via a staircase of 22 steps.
