In this two session introductory handbuilding course, students will become familiar with clay and how it behaves. They will learn techniques such as coiling, scratching and scoring, as well as glazing and underglazing techniques to decorate their pots. This course will foster creativity and interest in clay.
Appropriate for Beginner skill levels.
Open to students ages 8-12. Please plan to arrive 5-10 mins before each class to sign your student(s) in. Students also need to be signed out before leaving.
Class takes place at Arbutus Folk School, 610 4th Ave E, Olympia. Please enter through the alley way behind the school building.
Course includes clay, glazes, and two firings.
Students should wear comfy clothes that can get dirty, an apron and an old towel, as well as a snack and/or drink.
