Bowls are perhaps one of the most useful ceramic forms you can make - think soup bowls to nesting bowls to casseroles! This 4-session course is a fun way to create something unique and functional for your home while learning the basics of wheel throwing. We will focus on the many parts of making a bowl - throwing, shaping, trimming, texture and surface treatments, and using slips and glazes.
Appropriate for beginners.
Course includes all equipment and materials, including clay, bisque and glaze firings.
Please bring a towel and apron that can get dirty. Wear layers to adjust for comfort.
Course runs for four weeks, and is open to students ages 16 and older.
Classes take place at Arbutus Folk School, 610 4th Ave E, Olympia, WA. Please enter through the Arbutus door in the alley behind the building.
Note: Before registering for a series (a course which contains more than one class) students should make sure that individual class dates are not in conflict with their schedules because we cannot provide refunds or make-ups. Course payment is for the entire series and not individual classes within the series. If you do miss a class, let your instructor know, and they will be happy to answer your questions about what you may have missed.
