Few art mediums appeal to children the way a squishy tactile lump of clay does! Clay play stimulates a child's sense of creativity and develops dexterity and muscle strength. Manipulating and seeing the immediate changes they make to the clay encourages experimentation, trial and error, self-expression, and improves hand-eye coordination. Clay is acessible to each child at their own level of confidence and development.
Over the four weeks, your young learner will explore a variety of hand-building techniques including coiling, pinching, scoring, and imprinting. They will then decorate their work with glazes and learn about the firing process of clay. Students will have at least 3 fired ceramic pieces to bring home at the end of the course.
Appropriate for All skill levels.
All materials and tools will be provided, and course includes bisque and glaze firings.
Open to students ages 6-9. Please plan to arrive 5-10 mins before each class to sign your student(s) in. Students also need to be signed out before leaving.
