In this class students will create their own needle felted sculpture of a whale. Participants will be able to choose what species they would like their whale to be: Right Whale, Orca, Humpback, or a Grey Whale.
Needle felting is the process of using specialized barbed needles to sculpt wool fiber. As the needle touches the wool, it grabs onto the fiber and compresses it together turning it into a solid shape.
This is an entry level project and students do not need to have prior experience with felting, so come learn how to safely use the needle felting tools. All felting supplies will be provided to students, with take-home tools to continue your needle-felting journey!
Note: Masks are required for the duration of the class.
Class takes place at Arbutus Folk School, 610 4th Ave E, Olympia.
