In this introductory woodworking class, you will develop basic woodworking skills while designing and crafting a custom cutting or serving board out of a single piece of maple wood.
You will learn to safely use the band saw, chop saw, routers, drill press, chisels, files/rasps, and finally sanders, to achieve a final smooth finish. By the end of the course, you will have a beautifully finished, multi-purpose board ready for use in your kitchen, as a charcuterie board, or as a unique gift!
Appropriate for beginner skill levels or anyone who would like to refresh their basic woodworking skills. All materials and tools will be provided. Final dimensions of board are approximately 21"x8"x1". Students may bring pen and paper to take notes, any preferred safety equipment (such as eye and hearing protection), and orbital sander from home, if desired. Students should dress comfortably, wear closed-toed shoes, tie up long hair, and avoid wearing dangling jewelry.
