Create a one-of-a-kind life sized glass mask to liven up your home decor!
In this 2-session introductory kiln casting glass workshop, you will start with a pre-made plaster mold cast directly from a live model. You will then personalize your mask by carving the plaster to make additional reliefs and add any details you wish. After filling the masks with mosaic size glass frit, the plaster molds are loaded into glass kilns and fired. The colors of glass can be any combination of iridized clear crystal, ebony black, or champagne gold. In the second session, we will unload the glass masks, and sand rough edges on a wet glass sander, and your mask will be ready to take home!
All supplies are included. Please wear closed toe shoes and long pants in the glass studios.
This is a beginning kiln cast glass sculpture class. No prior experience is necessary. The basics of kiln casting using glass molds, firing glass, and vocabulary terms will be presented to enable students to advance to the next level glass class.
