This is an amazing string-teaching program that allows youth and adults with no previous fiddling experience to acquire basic skills on the fiddle (violin) and to be able to solo perform a three-chord fiddle tune with guitar accompaniment. Additionally, participants will learn how to produce sound effects to musically illustrate a short folk story narrated by the instructor. Students will learn about the history and traditions of the fiddle in Louisiana Cajun culture, while learning basic musical concepts such as rhythm and dynamics.
This course is designed for families to participate together, adults and youth ages 7+. Fiddles are supplied for all students participating in the workshop.
Instructor Kelly Thibodeaux is a working musician from Louisiana with 25 years of experience sharing the Cajun Fiddle with students of all ages and skill levels.
