Join expert woodworker Terry Liberty for a lesson, demo, and Q&A on how to prepare wood for your project using key machines in the shop. Topics will include how to use the Miter Saw, Table Saw, Thickness Planer, and Jointer as well as hand tools to make your wood straight, flat, and square, an essential first step for most woodworking projects. Terry will also encourage questions and discussion about any aspect of woodworking which the students have.
This class is designed for students with any amount of experience in woodworking. Previous classes at Arbutus Folk School, such as “Getting Started in Woodworking” or project-based courses would be helpful, but not required. It would also be helpful, but not required for a student who has a project and design in mind and wants help diving in to first steps.
The class will provide a deeper look into the purpose and uses of the machines and hand tools, while also creating the opportunity for participating students to ask questions and receive personalized guidance on their projects and ideas.
