Ages 16+
In this course students will learn some fundamental skills of hand tool woodworking through constructing a small dovetail box. On the first day students will learn how to use basic layout tools and will cut a practice dovetail joint. The following time will be committed to cutting joinery, making a simple lid, and applying a finish. Students will become familiar with hand saws, chisels, marking tools, and simple maneuvers on a router table. Students may choose to bring a headlamp for added lighting on fine details.
Although Terry's class on the Arts-And-Crafts Picture Frame is not a prerequisite, this class on crafting dovetails would be a great follow-on to it.
Appropriate for Beginner skill levels.
Class takes place at Arbutus Folk School, 610 4th Ave E, Olympia
Materials that will be provided: All. Please bring a headlamp if you have one.
