This class is appropriate for students with all levels of experience, who possess an interest in wheel thrown pottery. It is a great opportunity for beginners to learn the process by which a soft lump of clay is transformed into a finished ceramic piece. Advanced students will have the chance to expand their understanding of wheel thrown pottery, attempt new techniques, and develop their personal style. In addition to throwing topics, methods of surface treatment like slip decoration and glazing techniques will be explored. A variety of pottery traditions will be addressed and discussed throughout the scope of the class.
14 years and older welcome.
Registration closes 3 days before start of class.
We highly recommend that students bring their own towel and apron.
Course includes one 25-LB bag of clay, bisque, and glaze firing.
To meet the Washington Safe Start COVID-19 protocols we can only permit 5 students and one to two instructors in the studio at one time. UNFORTUNATELY WE CANNOT ALLOW DROP-INS DURING THIS TIME - PLEASE PLAN AHEAD.
Please visit our website for a detailed description of the precautions we are taking during the COVID-19 pandemic and for the requirements for all who visit the school.
