Our community Ceramics Open Studio sessions provide space for students to work on self-directed projects in handbuilding and wheel throwing.
We encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to supplement other courses or to work on self-guided projects. While instruction is not included in these sessions, our knowledgeable studio lead is there to answer questions and offer support. If you wish to complete a project, it is recommended you register for 2 or 3 consecutive classes.
Our Open Studios are all inclusive! The registration fee includes 3 hours of studio use, all clay and glaze needed during your studio time, and kiln firing. This means that Open Studio participants will no longer pay an additional a la carte kiln firing fee for work produced during your studio time. Separate firing fees will continue to be charged for "outside" work.
Appropriate for students who have the skills to work independently. Please note that our open studios are not meant for production work.
Class takes place at Arbutus Folk School, 610 4th Ave E, Olympia. Please enter through the front door.
All tools and equipment will be provided. Students may wish to bring an apron or wear clothing they don't mind getting dirty. Please dress in layers during colder seasons as we often keep the outside doors open.
Open to students ages 14 and older.
