Announcement:
Students who join the in-person portion of this class provide proof of Covid vaccination, including booster doses if eligible. In-person meetings will take place primarily outside. Students are expected to remain masked for any indoor meeting or if students cannot maintain social distancing outdoors. San Francisco
Explore the landmarks, history, and culture of San Francisco both in the online classroom and out in the city on foot. Students should be aware that there is a great deal of walking in the class.
Instructor
Kate Krumrei was born in Enid, Oklahoma and was raised in Iowa and Illinois. After completing a BS in Education at Texas Christian University, she taught English as a Second Language at the International Newcomers Academy in Fort Worth, Texas for three years. She then decided to hit the road as a backpacker and traveling English teacher. Shortly thereafter she finished a Masters degree in Ethics, Peace, and Global Affairs at American University in Washington D.C. She has worked and volunteered in numerous foreign countries including, India, Dominican Republic, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Liberia, and Cote d’Ivoire.
After working with the Danish Refugee Council and Search for Common Ground, she returned to teaching English – first with young adults, and then back to her roots with newcomers! When she’s not doing all that, she’s loving life in the Bay Area!

You will receive details on how to log in to your online class sessions one day before the start of the course. Once the final online class session has concluded, you will have one week to submit your independent coursework and final assignment to your teacher. Students are required to be present during all class sessions.
