Basic Carpentry and Woodworking   

Do you have power tools and want to learn to use them safely and effectively? Learn the basics of joinery, jigs, materials, methods and project design in a woodshop. After selecting your materials, apply everything you’ve learned to safely use hand and power tools in the construction and assemblage of a “toolbox.” Course fee includes use of tools, materials, and lumber for your first project.

What to Bring: If you already have, please bring and be prepared to use the three piece of safety equipment listed below. They could be purchased at some drug stores, most hardware stores and all big box stores (Lowes, Home Depot, Fred Meyer, and other safety/supply stores) Buy what fits and is comfortable to wear. An apron (not required) may be useful too.
1. Hearing protection
2. Vision protection
3. Respiratory protection

Dress Code: Long hair must be tied back. Loose clothing, hanging or dangling jewelry, open toed shoes and high heels are not permitted on the woodshop.

Required Form: All woodworking students are required to complete the “Activity Release, Limitation of Liability and Assumption of Risk” form before participating the class. Please click Activity and Release, Limitation of Liability and Assumption of Risk to download the form and bring the completed form to the instructor on the first day of the class.
