Project Resource Management   

Competencies:
  • Apply resource management within the Project Management Institute (PMI) PMBOK®Guide – Sixth Edition Process Groups (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing) 
  • Apply cost estimate and duration techniques for resource management 
  • Compare the three key types of project management estimation phases (Rough Order of Magnitude, Budget Estimate, and Definitive Estimate) and how each type affects planning during the Determine Budget process 
  • Use a Risk Register to identify resource risk triggers, develop the contingency reserve, make contract decisions, determine and make updates to project documentation, and identify constraints 
  • Apply resource planning, allocation, and leveling to manage resource needs and make adjustments throughout a project’s life cycle 
  • Determine the contract types, terminology, payment methods, and selection criteria to hire a seller for the project  
 
This course provides a systematic method for applying techniques and identifying the issues that can result in cost overruns, delayed schedules, or failure to meet performance standards. Course topics include resource identification, estimating techniques, and planning phases, which take place during project definition and planning, and risk triggers, performance issues, and contract management, which take place during project Execution, Monitoring, Controlling, and Closure. Yields 9 PDUs.

Recommended Prerequisites:
  • Principles of Project Management or equivalent.
