TELOS - From Cubism to Surrealism: Interpreting Early 20th Century Art

This course will highlight the period of art history "isms" during the early 20th century. We will look at how modernism developed in the late 19th century and its influence on the work of Picasso, Matisse, Duchamp and other avant-garde artists. We will analyze their art with respect to their innovations, artistic ideology as well as explore what inspired and motivated them to reject established norms.
