Deaf Experience through History- Research using Films and Experiences
NEW!
The deaf experience is similar in many ways to the experience of many oppressed populations. Unique to the deaf experience is the mode of communication and the desire of hearing people to “fix problems” associated with deafness. This course provides an in-depth investigation into the deaf experience. Specifically this course focuses on historical aspects of Deaf people and applies that knowledge to understand the attitudes and expectations of Deaf people today. No previous knowledge of ASL required. Required text: A Place of Their Own: Creating the Deaf Community in America. ISBN: 0-930323-49-1. Check online for best prices, not available at BC bookstore
