TELOS - Northwest Art – The Artists and their Work
NEW!
This course examines the artists and artwork of Northwest School, also called the “Northwest Mystics.” As an art movement that originated in the Pacific Northwest in the 1930s, it included luminaries such as Mark Tobey, Guy Anderson, Morris Graves, Helmi Juvonen, Emily Carr and Kenneth Callahan and others, who drew inspiration from the landscape of the region and traditional Northwest Native American art forms to create a new modernist interpretation of art. The paintings, sculpture and other art of this movement is offered for review and discussion, and how they have influenced the artists of today, including some select examples of original works for examination.
