Sociology Through Films: Expertise and Empathy

This is a lecture and discussion class about people whom we will encounter as experts at their work, and as people who make lovely connections with others - through their work, their relationships, even their shortcomings. Our encounters will include: Italian tailors, French vintners, book lovers - and a dyslexic man, sustainable farmers in CA, a garden and woman transformed, and a chef who goes from Paris to the Arctic! All the films are available on Amazon and/or Kanopy; 3 are in French with English subtitles.
