American Short Stories: A Survey
In this course, students will read and discuss twenty-eight short stories written by outstanding American writers from 1890-present. The stories will reflect the ethnic/racial diversity of the authors and will include those written by Native Americans, Black Americans, Asian Americans and Hispanic Americans, as well as by Whites. Keeping in mind the historical context of each story, students will explore these stories to discover what they teach us about the human experience.
