Egyptian Voices: The Middle Kingdom

The Middle Kingdom was a time of prosperity, peace and long-reigning kings, but also a time in which the role and status of the king was diminished and the Egyptians were forced to become more cognizant of their neighbors. The language reached its highpoint and literature flourished as did arts and crafts, and sculpture. This course will review the classic period of Egyptian history by looking at the archaeological evidence found in architecture, literature and art.
