Vikings: Valhalla and Ragnarok

The Vikings are often seen as barbaric warriors raiding the seas. If we look behind the warfare, they were, above all, farmers, incredible craftsmen and great seafarers. They were people with deep beliefs and a rich mythology. This course is divided into four sagas. The Original Saga relates to the creation of the world and the Viking mythology. The Saga of the Journey takes you on a voyage on some of the best Viking boats. The Saga of Life reveals the values and customs in a Norse village and the Saga of the End of Times portrays the end of the world according to the northern mythology. Archeological fields, artifacts and the influence of the Vikings on our modern society will be discussed.
