Impressionism: Light, Color, Moment

Impressionism is a 19th century movement that revolutionized and shook the conventions of the 19th century French society. The artists like Manet, Monet, Pissarro, Degas and Morisot were in opposition to academic art and aimed at representing the ephemeral nature of light and its effects on colors and shapes. In this class, students will explore how this powerful art movement was born and the main artists with whom it was associated and how they gained support and success to this day.
