The Third Reich 1939-1945
This course will explore the final six years of the Third Reich's reign of terror (1939-1945), including the Holocaust and the Second World War. The course will consider how and why the Nazis prepared Germany to wage a total war and implement a genocide. This course will also examine the attempts by individuals and groups in Germany and beyond to resist the totalitarian regime during this period. Students in this course will explore this history through the lens of military developments, politics, culture, and society. Students will consider the factors that precipitated the demise of the Third Reich and the lasting lessons this period can teach us today.
