Human Evolution and Societies
In this discussion-based class, students will develop an understanding of why evolution is not merely a subject for plants, insects, etc. and that human adaption is a relevant issue today. Students will explore scientific hominin development over several million years and review the timeline and the accumulation of tools in the human adaptive toolkit. The vocabulary for genetic adaptation and cultural adaptation will be introduced to further enhance the discussion. Students will identify major adaptive tools for humans and provide perspectives for how these may be used to address issues and provide insight into current issues.
