American History 1800-1860
Students will examine the years of western expansion, taking only the essentials; "a good gun, a good horse, and a good wife." Student will discover the revolution in economics and transportation of factories, canals, and railroads to move the new goods. And in the South, it was the expansion of the new crop, cotton. Students will also delve into the religious, artistic, and philosophical trends of the time, the Second Great Awakening, the Abolition Movements, and the Transcendentalists.
