The Birth of Modern Western Drama

Students will read and discuss eight plays by renowned European playwrights whose works contributed to the birth of modern Western drama, namely Chekhov, Gorky, Ibsen, Strindberg, Lorca, O'Casey, Shaw and Ionesco. Before the first class, students will receive a list of eight plays to read, the class will be exploring one play each week.
