Competencies:
- Apply essential components in a job description and post a job announcement on-line
- Screen candidates and prepare for an interview using behavior-based questions
- Perform an interview that is legally correct, and which will elicit relevant information about the candidate
- Select a candidate by comparing his/her experience against other candidates based upon the criteria developed
- Conduct legal and useful reference checks
- Design an orientation session which includes essential legal components while being entertaining and welcoming
- Recognize basic retention techniques, and develop creative retention techniques for Case Study
How do you find talented employees and keep them working with you and not your competitors? Take a step-by-step approach through the hiring process: advertising (both online and print), sourcing, screening, interviewing, reference checking, extending offers, and orienting new employees. Practice some of the techniques in class. Gain innovative retention strategies, as well as time-honored methods of keeping staff happy and productive.
