This course is designed for people with very basic or no knowledge of the Russian language. Students learn the Cyrillic alphabet; pronunciation and spelling rules; essential present-tense grammar structures; numerals; pronouns; and everyday vocabulary for common situations such as introductions, asking for directions, ordering and buying food at a restaurant or store, talking about professions, and other simple conversations. Cultural aspects of the Russian-speaking world are integrated throughout the course.
